In Feb. 2009, I was talking on the phone with my four-year-old granddaughter, Sierra, when she told me she needed something.
"What do you need?" I asked her.
"I need a big diamond!" she said.
"Do you think a big diamond would be very expensive?" I asked.
Since she had never asked me for anything before, I knew I had better find her a big diamond!! This diamond probably held a very magical place in the imagination of my "little princess".
I really had no clue as to where to even start looking. I couldn't remember ever seeing a big diamond in a store!
A few days later, I was in a Michael's store looking for supplies to make Valentines. I wanted to see the supplies on the bottom rack and I got down on one knee so that I could see them better. When I went down on my knee, I put my hand on the floor. I felt something and picked it up. It was an acrylic diamond about the size of a pecan.
Amazed, I looked at the diamond. I wasn't sure if it had came from Michael's, or not. All I really knew was that my young granddaughter had asked me for a big diamond and I now held one in my hand!
I saw a saleswomen nearby and showed her the diamond. I asked her if it had come from Michael's. She said it had and told me where to find them.
I had not thought to look for diamonds in a craft store, but there they were! On the floral aisle, I found bags of diamonds in many different sizes and colors!! I didn't see any open bags or other loose diamonds lying around. The only loose diamond I saw in the store was right where I had gotten down on my knee!
How had this happened? While I will never know how the diamond got on the floor, I will always know who made sure that it was right where I knelt down!
As I think of our God in heaven orchestrating this, I am not surprised that He answered the prayer, I had forgotten to pray, by having me get down on my knee! What a vivid picture He painted on that day! Our God is real and He cares about all of our needs, even the needs of a little princess!
Do you see God's hand in your life and feel His loving presence when something works out just right? Our Father is saying "I'm right here with you." Some choose to believe in coincidences and luck. I choose to see that our Father wants to be part of our lives. He knows our worries and cares about our needs. He knew how important it was to me to let my granddaughters see that I can be counted on. Our Father wants us to know that He can be counted on, too!
"For as high as the heavens
above the Earth,
so great is His love for...You!"
